Reveal your true skin
Micro-Needling (Collagen induction therapy C.I.T )
Microneedling is designed to reverse years of skin wrinkling and sun damage. The results of micro-needling are a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. It also has a positive effect on hyper-pigmentation, as well as scarring and stretch marks.

Here’s everything you need to know about this evolved technique of turning back the hands of time!
Can tiny needle pricks improve your skin texture and tone? Most definitely! Thanks to the newest technology, skin needling is now even more effective at reversing the signs of aging and diminishing scars. Automated micro-needling is an exciting new skin therapy innovation for dramatically minimizing fine lines, pores, pigmentation, scars and stretch marks. Also called Collagen Induction Therapy (or CIT), micro-needling is a non-surgical resurfacing procedure that creates a controlled injury underneath the skin’s surface to stimulate the body to naturally produce collagen and elastin. The result is plumper skin and diminished appearance of scarring and wrinkles.
What is micro-needling?
Micro-needling is a safe, chemical-free and minimally invasive technique for stimulating collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin give skin its texture, structure and appearance. As we age, these compounds break down from sun and environmental damage leading to dry, thin and wrinkled skin. Micro-needling is a mechanical method for reversing this breakdown.

Microneedling with the INNOPen is a new innovation in aesthetics. The micro needles within the pen create hundreds of tiny micro channels through the epidermis into the deeper dermis. This triggers the natural production of collagen and elastin and kick starts the body's natural healing process, resulting in an overall improved appearance to the skin.

The Innopen Micro-Needling Pen is a state of the art device designed for professional use only. Unlike all other devices, INNOPen is totally unique in that it deploys the worlds only sealed treatment tip. This design enables the practitioner to absolutely ensure there treatment depth is delivered in a totally controlled environment. Utilising a needle entry system ensures that skin is not retracted into the needle tip, thus preventing uncontrolled depth, microscopic tears and tissue damage.

The INNOPen is a powered device with adjustable speed settings and depth control in 0.1mm increments from 0mm-2mm. The superficial micro-channels created by the INNOpen allow topical gels, creams and specialized serums to be absorbed more effectively into the skin.
What exactly happens in our skin?
-
Inflammation (day 1-3) – The initial injury to the skin causes platelets to respond to the injury along with growth factors, other healing cells and new capillaries. Other cells come to the area to remove debris. Cells of the upper skin layer (epidermis) divide and new fibroblasts are stimulated in the dermal layer (the layer below the epidermis).
-
Proliferation (day 4-6) – The new vibrant cells of the epidermis and fibroblasts of the dermis continue to multiply and proliferate.
-
Maturation (day 7-28) – Fibroblasts form collagen and elastin in the dermis giving more tightness and tone to the skin while the cells of the epidermis flourish giving a more smooth and uniform surface.
-
From Day 28 on, a new healthy skin surface is present while the collagen and elastin of the dermis continue to ‘tighten’ further improving firmness of the skin.
What areas can be treated?
Micro-needling can be used on all parts of the body; Face, neck, décollete, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, back etc.
What can I expect during the treatment?
The feeling associated with the Micro-needling is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip reduces discomfort and a topical anesthetic further reduces any pain that might have been experienced.
Is there any downtime?
Immediately after the treatment there will be redness to your skin and a slight sunburnt feeling. Most people heal completely within 24 hours, while some will retain some redness for between 2 to 4 days. Total healing times depends on your individual treatment and the depth of the needles used.
How often should I have the treatment?
As always, we'd thoroughly recommend a free consultation, where we will assess your skin and recommend the best treatment plan for you. Some patients will only have one treatment a year to achieve optimal results. For most patients, we'd recommend a series of 3-4 treatments, 4-5 weeks apart, in the first year. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced aging, stretch marks or scars, we would recommend between 6-8 sessions, 4-6 weeks apart.
Are results immediate?
Immediately after the treatment, patients notice a glow to their skin. In the first couple of days, the micro-injuries trigger the body's immune system and white blood cells are sent in to disinfect the wounds, increase the blood supply and start to create fresh, new skin. Approx. 4 days after the treatment, the body produces collagen and elastin and deposits them as the new tissue is formed. Visible differences to the skin are noticed at this time. From around day 6 and continuing for around 6 months, new stronger collagen continues to be produced and the dermis contracts, resulting in a noticeably younger looking, more supple skin.
What benefits will I see?
You will see visible changes from the treatment over the course of several days and weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months after a treatment as collagen production continues. Benefits include diminished appearance of fine lines and acne scars, reduced pore size and an overall improvement in texture and tone.
How is micro-needling different from dermal needling rollers?
The automated micro-needling device we use moves in a vertical direction for better precision when treating the skin. Dermal rollers do not create a precise vertical action. This lack of precision can contribute to greater discomfort and inconsistent effects to the skin.
How is it different from laser skin treatments?
Automated micro-needling breaks up pigment mechanically and stimulates the collagen formation without the use of heat. For clients who aren’t ready for laser treatments, micro-needling is an ideal alternative. Depending on the laser treatments you are considering, micro-needling generally has less recovery time.
